Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad, Prime Minister of Malaysia, is an example to follow for his dedication, perseverance and concern for his country and for Muslims around the world; This has led him to be re-elected prime minister for the second time at the age of 93 after having been retired from politics for more than ten years.
In his previous tenure as Prime Minister of Malaysia, Tun Dr. Mahathir led his country to be one of the most developed in Asia.
Today, March 20, 2019, a delegation from Fundación Mezquita de Sevilla, composed of Ibrahim Hernández, president, Luqman Nieto, vice president, Muhsin Sierra, director of public relations and Bashir Castiñeira, ambassador of the foundation in Malaysia, has had the honor of being received by the Prime Minister of Malaysia, Tun Dr. Mahathir.
This is the fifth time that a delegation from Fundación Mezquita de Sevilla has been received by Tun Dr. Mahathir, and the first time that it has done so in its capacity as Prime Minister.
The meeting was held in the prime minister’s office and took place in a relaxed manner.
The Foundation’s project to build a mosque and Islamic cultural centre in Seville and possible ways of helping to make this project a reality were discussed.
Tun Dr. Mahathir has shown great interest in this project being completed soon.
The situation of Muslims in the world and how Muslims must be an example and strengthened, both economically and intellectually, to be an example of the values expressed in the Koran and the Sunna, as Al Andalus was, was also discussed.
It is an honor to have been received, once again, by Tun Dr. Mahathir, who has encouraged us to continue working for what we believe in and never give up; something about which he is the best example to follow.
We are very grateful to him, as well as to Datuk Badariah, who has been Tun Dr. Mahathir’s Chief of Staff throughout his career, for having shown the deference to take the time to receive us, for his support and for his advice.
