On Thursday, September 28, after the Salat of Maghrib (8:17 pm), the Mawlid an Nabi, birth of the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings upon him, will be celebrated in the Mosque of the Plaza Ponce de Leon, with an evening of Quran Recitation, Qasidas in honor of the Messenger and a speech by Hajj Abdel Gani Melara. A dinner will be served at the end.
The remembrance of the birth of Muhammad, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, is a luminous sign in the history of Islam; and it is worthy of this remembrance and celebration; and to gather for it to remember Allah, Glorified and Exalted, to study the Sira and all that is related to it, such as: feeding, guarding family ties, helping the needy, the orphans… and all that is to seek the Sunna (the beautiful example of the Messenger) to follow it and to take as an example its beautiful qualities of character.
“I have certainly been sent to perfect the noble qualities of character.
Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him. Love for the Messenger of Allah is to follow and imitate him. Love for the Messenger is the determination to help him, the defense of his Sunna, the submission to it and the fear of opposing it. Love is the continuous remembrance of the beloved; love is preferring the beloved; love is longing for the beloved; love is the coincidence of the heart with what the beloved wants, loving what he loves and detesting what he detests.
