In the event of presentation Khalid Nieto participated, as representative of the Islamic Community in Spain, along with the Mayor of Almonaster la Real, Don Jacinto Vazquez, the President of the Huelva Deputation, Don Ignacio Caraballo Romero and the Culture Councillor of the City Council of Almonaster la Real, Eli Moya and the municipal councilors.

Almonaster la Real celebrates since Friday the XVII Conference of Islamic Culture to be hold throughout the weekend with more than 50 planned activities, many of the activities will be hold in the environment of the town mosque from the X Century, the ” the only one that has preserved its rural character in the West “.
One of the most expected activity will be the concert given by the singer from Huelva Arcángel along with the musician from Syrian and Palestinian descent Fahmi Alqhai, that will take place on Saturday at 21.00 pm in the church of the municipality with a capacity for only 300 people and have already been sold out.
The Mayor of Almonaster, Jacinto Vazquez, has indicated that they expect between 5,000 and 10,000 people in the village of just 650 population, all activities are free of charge except for the Archangel concert whose tickets have been sold at a price of 18 euros.
The opening of the conference takes place on Friday at 18.00 pm with the opening of the market of Cultures, Souk and Moreria as well as the opening of several exhibitions.
During this days we try to remember the Islamic presence in the Sierra de Huelva and this days are “highly expected in the village and all the Sierra” as they open “cultural autumn”. After some years of absence, the Muslim community will be present at the whole event and actively participate in the activities as a symbol of “peace and dialogue between cultures, that is what is intended”.
The Culture councillor of the municipality, Elisabeth Moya, has pointed some of the activities planned throughout the weekend. To highlight the souk with over 90 exhibitors, camel rides, parades, Islamic Conference or the International Symposium that this year will focus on ‘landscapes, spaces and objects of devotion of Islam.
