Yesterday a delegation from the Seville Mosque Foundation met at Almonaster la Real, Huelva, with its Mayor, Don Jacinto Vázquez, Eli Moya and Yolanda Benabat, in order to finalize the details of our participation in this edition.
Once again a real pleasure to be part of this great event with these beautiful people.
From October 13 to 15, 2017, the 18th Islamic Culture Days will be held in Almonaster la Real, which has had an active cooperation in its organization and participation since its inception.
The Muslim presence left a special stamp in numerous points of the Natural Park Sierra de Aracena and Picos de Aroche that today preserve considerable vestiges of their stay. Being the first testimonies on its existence those of the Muslim geographer Abu Ubaid in the year 822.
Almonaster la Real is a true reflection of this era. Its mosque crowns the hill from which the village grows downhill, with an urban framework of narrow, winding streets. The mosque has marked the lives of its neighbors, who for years have taken up their roots as the center of a festival that aims to transform this village into its predecessor: the Muslim Al-Munastyr.
The eighteenth edition of the Islamic Culture Days of Almonaster will feature this year with three days in which you can enjoy all kinds of activities related to Muslim history, traditions and customs. From the 13th to the 15th of October, the historic town will revive scenes from centuries ago in which the village life revolved around its mosque and market.
As soon as it is available the entire program will be shared.
