Last Saturday, December 30, the Atlas Sevilla Association, together with the Seville Mosque Foundation and the collaboration of the Jorge Juan Sports Club, held a children’s soccer tournament in solidarity with the children of Palestine.
The tournament was attended by more than 50 children between 8 and 10 years old, and was an example of unity and a channel of dialogue to promote and transmit the values of cultural diversity, social responsibility, respect, the struggle for equality and peace.
The children thoroughly enjoyed the event and the games during the competition and were presented with specially designed kits for the event.
Between games, children, parents and guests enjoyed a display of sweets and refreshments and it was a moment of interaction between all attendees. After the games there were awards to all the children who participated and referees. The awards ceremony was presided over by the President of the Atlas Sevilla Association, President and Vice President of the Seville Mosque Foundation and had the special participation of Maribel Garcia, human rights activist for Palestine.
The kick-off was given by Sidi Ahmed Ben Yessef, acclaimed painter born in Tetouan and resident in Seville since the age of 17.
The event was a great success. The kids had a great time and filled the moments when they weren’t competing with fun, games and getting to know each other.
The event aimed to promote multicultural dialogue and tolerance in an effort to heal the impact that events such as war have on our entire society and to promote social integration and unity in our society through participation in sports.
