World Congress of Middle East Studies. Seville, July 16-18

The Three Cultures of the Mediterranean Foundation welcomes you to the fifth edition of WOCMES, World Congress of Middle East Studies.
To which the Mezquita de Sevilla Foundation has been invited to the inauguration in the gardens of the Alcazar. WOCMES Seville 2018 will be held in Seville from 16 to 20 July 2018 and will be the meeting point to present, debate and share the widest information on the latest and most recent studies of the Middle East, covering the most diverse perspectives, from the analysis and resolution of conflicts to migrations. through water, the environment, culture, the media and studies on Al-Andalus.
In this way, the congress is an unmissable event for researchers, professors, students, media, professionals and other groups interested in studies in North Africa, the Middle East, as well as in other regions of the world with an impact on these areas.
In this sense, it is expected to bring together 3,000 participants from more than 70 countries in what is considered the most prestigious event in this field.
After the four previous editions, Mainz 2002 (Germany), Amman 2006 (Jordan), Barcelona 2010 (Spain) and Ankara 2014 (Turkey), WOCMES Seville 2018 will focus on the relationship between the three cultures and, as it could not be otherwise due to the Foundation’s own raison d’être, on the Andalusian legacy and the roots of the city that hosts this important international meeting.
Seville, an example of coexistence between cultures, stands today as the perfect setting to host this forum and the debate on the study of the Middle East, since both the city and the Andalusian community have traditionally been a place for understanding, for the exchange of ideas and intercultural dialogue.
This confers an additional value to this land as host of such a unique event, an aspect that was decisive for the Three Cultures of the Mediterranean Foundation when it was selected as the organizer of the forum, thus demonstrating its quality as an institution dedicated for two decades to the knowledge of diverse cultures as the basis of respect between peoples.
