AUDIO: RNE, En primera persona: Spaniards who embrace Islam.

I am at the Fundación Mezquita de Sevilla with Professor Joaquín Nieto or Khalid as he is known by the Muslim community.
He had an intense past linked to Christianity but more than 20 years ago he decided to live La Shahada (Testimony of Faith) to embrace Islam.
Now he lives as a Muslim and trains the young and not so young who are interested in this religion.
I attend one of the formation meetings that this father and grandfather regularly holds at the Mosque of Seville together with many men and a woman who want to know better what it means to live as a Muslim.
Some have already converted to Islam, others are in the process of learning or just want to know more about this faith.
And most agree on the little complicity they have with their families when they decide to make public that they are going to profess the Muslim religion.
It is difficult for those around them to accept it but, in most cases, with the passage of time they assimilate.
Today it is time to talk about the circulation of wealth in Islam and all the attendees are attentive to Khalid’s words.
It is interesting to know the essence of Islam and why there are so many people who decide to convert to this religion.
It is necessary to know in order to understand why the focus of attention should be precisely on what unites us and on what we can add instead of subtracting.
There are many Muslim people with whom we share our lives daily without realizing it.
They are our friends, work colleagues, neighbors, even family, who have nothing to do with the images that come to us from the outside and distort reality.
