Yesterday we had the unique privilege of hosting a group of 11 American university students and their professor, Rubén Díaz López, for a profound exchange after the Dhuhr prayer.
This reception was much more than just a visit; It was a truly fruitful exchange, designed to offer us the opportunity to express in existential terms what the Deen of Islam is and can be understood in the present age. It also allows us to lay a diverse and lasting foundation for intercultural dialogue and understanding—something necessary for the time and place in which we live.
Among the central issues addressed were the coexistence of Muslims with the European diaspora in general, the historical foundations that have brought us to where we are today, and, crucially, how to untie the chains of historical and cultural dispositions. Our goal, through this dialogue, is to reach a locative and in-depth understanding of the roles we play in society through education, integration, and social betterment.
We warmly welcome all those who approach the Seville Mosque Foundation in search of connection and understanding with the Muslim citizens of the city. We ask Allah to make every encounter a door to a harmonious and prosperous future for society as a whole.
