The official opening ceremony of the 11th edition of the Islamic Festival of Mértola took place yesterday May 19, in the late afternoon, in the amphitheater of the Castle of Mértola.
The opening session was marked by the presence of Ana Abrunhosa, Minister of Territorial Cohesion; Ceia da Silva, President of CCDRA; MPs Nélson Brito and Pedro do Carmo; Ana Paula Amendoeira, Regional Director of Culture of Alentej; António Bota, President of CIMBAL; Hon. Sr. Ambassador of His Majesty the King of Morocco in Portugal, Othman Bahnini; Vitor Fernandez da Silva, President of the Regional Tourism Authority of Alentejo e Ribatejo and Khalid Nietto, Vice President of the Seville Mosque Foundation.
The inaugural speeches were given by Minister Ana Abrunhosa; the President of the Municipal Council of Mertola; Ana Paula Amendoeira, Regional Director of Culture of Alentej and Khalid Nieto, Vice President of the Seville Mosque Foundation, a speech that we present here.
