On April 29, the Mosque Foundation of Seville had the pleasure of attending the official presentation of the XIII Islamic Festival of Mértola at the esteemed Three Cultures Foundation of Seville. We extend our sincere thanks to the Three Cultures Foundation for their invaluable role and generosity in this important presentation.
We are also honoured by the presence of the Mayor of Almonaster la Real, Jacinto José Vázquez, along with his delegation. Your attendance underscores the joint collaborative efforts in promoting the Islamic Cultural Festivals of both Almonaster La Real and Mértola, respectively.
The event served as an exciting preview of the festival, which will be held in the beautiful city of Mértola from May 22 to 25. We are honoured by the presence and insightful interventions of several distinguished speakers, including the Mayor of Mértola, Mário José Santos Tomé, the Vice-President and Councillor, Rosinda Maria Freire Pepper and the representative of the Portuguese Consulate in Seville. The Head of Tourism and Promotion of the Alentejo, José Manuel Santos, and our esteemed Vice President, Hayy Khalid Nieto, also shared their perspectives.
Our distinguished guest from the Emirates, Dr. Abdullah Mohamed Almehyas, delivered a few particularly moving words, further highlighting the importance of cultural exchange and mutual understanding.
The Mezquita de Sevilla Foundation wishes to express its sincere gratitude to the Municipal Chamber of Mértola for extending the invitation to be part of this presentation. We also extend our thanks to everyone who attended the event and to all those who are working diligently behind the scenes to ensure that the XIII Islamic Festival of Mertola is a resounding success.
The presentation offered a taste of the vibrant atmosphere to come, including a captivating concert by the group Além Kabul and a delicious food tasting. We look forward to the festival and wish everyone involved a truly fruitful and enriching event. We cordially encourage everyone to attend this celebration of Islamic culture in the historic setting of Mértola. We look forward to seeing you there!
