Strengthening ties: a warm welcome in Seville

This week we had the honour of receiving His Excellency Muhammad Najib, Ambassador of Indonesia to Spain, together with His Excellency Zuhairi Misrawi, Ambassador of Indonesia in Tunisia, at the Mosque Foundation of Seville.

Our ties with Indonesia are deep, forged over many years of travel and relationships with both government institutions and civil society. It is a country that we have great affection for, that has always welcomed us with the most exquisite courtesy and that has shown enormous generosity with the project of the Islamic Cultural Center of Seville through different initiatives in the past, including the #ATile4Seville campaign.

The visit began on Wednesday evening with a wonderful dinner, in which our President and his family had the pleasure of sharing a table with the ambassadors and their families in a warm atmosphere of generous hospitality. The next day, the delegation visited the Mosque Foundation of Seville and learned about the progress of the project.

We are especially grateful for the excellent relationship we have with His Excellency Muhammad Najib. Over the past few years, we have witnessed their dedication and magnificent work to strengthen ties between Indonesia and Spain. His deep bond with this land is no coincidence: he is the author of several books on the history of Al Andalus, a sign of his knowledge and appreciation for our shared heritage.

We continue to work to make the Islamic Cultural Center of Seville a reality and we hope to maintain and deepen these ties. We sincerely hope that Indonesia will continue to be a key part of this project, as it has been for all these years.

Strengthen ties of brotherhood and cooperation.
