The Seville Mosque Foundation is pleased to share the successful conclusion of our recent trip to Moulay Abdesalam, Tazrout, Morocco. Where we have been privileged witnesses of the materialization of a social aid project that has had a very positive impact on the local community.
The initiative, which is now two years old, has been personally promoted by Hajj Khalid, vice-president of the Foundation, and supported by the Seville Mosque Foundation. This project was possible thanks to the collaboration of a group of people with a deep spirit of solidarity and the trust placed in him.
The visit focused on the award ceremony for SCHOOL TRANSPORT in Tazrout, held on Saturday, October 25, and a visit to Muley Abdesalam ibn Mashish. At this event, we gave 52,750 Moroccan dirhams (€5,000) to the Parents’ Association, to help with school transport for children in the region.
This figure represents 10% of the total budget of a transport project that benefits 308 students (167 boys and 141 girls). This vital service covers 10 bus routes with distances ranging from 10 to 40 km, the total cost of which amounted to 54,000 euros. It is important to note that the service has been free for all students this year, with the City Council covering a deficit of €14,000.
Listening to the annual balance of this project was truly emotional. The results obtained exceeded the expectations of the community itself:
Attendance and Dropout: 90% of school attendance was maintained, registering a very low level of dropout.
Academic Performance: The level of improvement in grades has been remarkable, with the Tazrout institute achieving the best academic results in the entire Province this year.
Individual Achievement: One of the young women benefited by the transportation service obtained the best academic record in the entire Province and successfully passed the teaching exam.
The joy and gratitude of the parents were expressed on multiple occasions, as they themselves were surprised by the extraordinary results. Truly, our help has been worth it.
During his speech, Hajj Khalid emphasized the hope that young people who complete their studies will contribute back to their communities. This is the essence of the project: to sow the seed of long-term development.
Hajj Khalid has renewed his commitment to try to maintain this aid for the next few years to complete a full cycle of secondary education, in the hope of continuing to contribute to the development of the Tazrout community in the future. Insha Allah.
Our deep gratitude extends to all those who have made this great work possible with their generosity and duas, and to the Municipality and community of Tazrout, who welcomed us in Moulay Abdesalam with such exquisite hospitality.
A hug to all those who have supported us, and our special thanks to Omar El Hartiti, our mediator and key in this initiative.
May Allah bless all those who have collaborated and may this journey be an example of solidarity and compassion among all, for all. Amin.
Alhamdulilah wa shukrulilah.
