On October 8, the Seville Mosque Foundation had the pleasure of welcoming a group of young participants in the CONVIVESEVILLA2020 program, organized by the Moroccan Association in collaboration with the Junta de Andalucía, to its mosque in Plaza Ponce de León. https://www.asociacionmarroqui.com/convivesevilla-2020-1/
In this program, a group of 10 young people live together for five days (morning, afternoon and evening) and follow a rich and intense program that allows them to learn about citizenship, get to know the institutions, participate in recreational activities, meet with public figures, learn to express themselves, know how to present a problem in their neighborhood, participate in a debate, take part in local life, etc.
The project aims to restore young people’s confidence by encouraging dialogue, exchange, communication and coexistence. In short, it helps each of the participants to see themselves as citizens.
During the visit to the Seville Mosque Foundation, the young people were able to learn firsthand what a mosque is and what role it plays in the life of a Muslim. The meeting served to deepen the meaning of being a Muslim and to clarify doubts or myths that are generally held about Muslims due to lack of knowledge or misinformation.
Initiatives like this are very enriching and promote coexistence between people of different faiths and cultures in our land. Therefore, from the Seville Mosque Foundation we thank the Moroccan Association for allowing us to be part of this program and we encourage them to continue their work.
