25th anniversary of a thousand years of coexistence in Almonaster la Real, Huelva – Video by TRT

We share this beautiful documentary video produced by TRT Español about the Islamic Culture Days of Almonaster la Real.

Almonaster la Real is a small village in the Sierra de Aracena, in Huelva. Its name derives from the Arabic “al-munastir” and this in turn from Latin and means “the monastery”.

Around the tenth-century mosque that crowns these villages, for 25 years, a conference on Islamic culture has been held every year organized by the City Council of Almonaster la Real and the Mosque Foundation of Seville.

These days, which this year celebrate their 25th anniversary, are a testimony to Spain’s Muslim heritage as well as to its past and future of coexistence.
