“An indisputable reality: Islamophobia in the media” is the title of the 2017 report of the Observatory of Islamophobia in the Media presented on October 2 at the IEMed headquarters in Barcelona, and on October 9 in Madrid at Casa Árabe.
Throughout 2017, the Observatory of Islamophobia in the Media analysed daily the information published by six national and regional newspapers (La Vanguardia, El Mundo, La Razón, 20 minutos, El País and Diario.es) with the aim of identifying Islamophobic information and issuing recommendations in this regard.
In 2018 it monitors the newspapers El País and El Mundo and incorporates the analysis of information from the national news section of the Efe and Europa Press press agencies (See Methodology).
The Observatory is an initiative led by the IEMed and the Al Fanar Foundation that has had the support of the Three Cultures of the Mediterranean Foundation, Casa Árabe and the Euro-Arab Foundation since its inception in 2017.
In 2018, the Mare Nostrum Campus (University of Murcia and Polytechnic University of Cartagena) joined these partner entities. “An Undeniable Reality: Islamophobia in the Media” (Access to the full report)
