Assalamu Alaikum,
Writing this letter eighteen months down the line from the last annual report, one can ́t but feel awe at the speed of time and the events surrounding it.
Only when we were starting to catch a glimpse at a horizon away from the devastation of the pandemic and mankind ́s dealings in it, what we see is bombs falling in Ukraine, at the very border of Europe and everything it represents; yet another refuge crisis, one that is shamelessly been dealt upon with blatant double standards; economic inflation up the roof, and ever increasing human polarisation and populism, all of which is of great concern.
Yet, as Allah tells us in the Sura of Yusuf:
̈My sons! Seek news of Yusuf and his brother. Do not despair of solace from Allah. No one despairs of solace from Allah except for people who are disbelievers. ̈ 12, 87
With Allah ́s mercy at our aim, we must continue with whatever it is that has been brought before us, and make the most of it, as it is that for which we will have to answer.
The Prophet, saw, said:
̈If the Day of Judgment erupts while you are planting a new tree, carry on and plant it.”
We thank whole heartedly all those who have supported us and continue to do so, and we ask Allah to reward them with all the best in this life and the next. Amin.
With all of this in mind, over this period we have concentrated our activities locally, with zakat distribution at its cornerstone, and are now hopeful of being able to continue with the progress regarding the project of the Mosque, Islamic Cultural Centre and Awqaf of Seville with opening and expansion, insha Allah.
