This year’s celebration of Eid al-Fitr began with the traditional sighting of the new moon. Clear skies provided excellent visibility, marking the end of Ramadan after 29 days.
According to the Sunna, we collect Zakat al-Fitr in non-perishable food, which is distributed every year to the neediest in the community. This act of charity embodies the spirit of generosity that defines our faith.
Continuing the tradition, of 29 years now, the Eid prayer took place in the Alamillo Park, led on this occasion by Sheikh Muhammad Idrissi, Imam of the al-Hidaya Mosque.
On a beautiful and sunny day, the festivities continued with an Eid celebration lunch with an open invitation at the Children’s Park in Pinares de Oromana in Alcalá de Guadaíra. This potluck provided a wonderful opportunity for Muslims from all over Seville to come together, strengthening our bonds of brotherhood. The day was made even more special with games and surprises organized for the children.
As we reflect on this blessed day, we ask Allah to accept our supplications, prayers and good deeds performed during the holy month of Ramadan. May the blessings of this sacred time continue to enrich our lives for the coming year. Amin.
Eid Mubarak to all!
