Meeting in Seville with the delegates from the Mértola City Council, Portugal, Manuel Márquez, Area Manager of Culture and Manuel Pasinhas, Head of Cultural Planning, for the preparation of the 9th Mértola Islamic Festival, to be held in this city, May 21st, 2017. It has been a real pleasure to welcome them and we hope to see them soon in Mértola to continue with the preparations.
The festival, celebrated every two years, an event that began inspired by the Islamic Culture Days of Almonaster, where from its inception and until today, has been involved in its development and organization the Islamic Community in Spain and in particular the Muslim community of Seville.
During the meeting the delegation visited the studio of Ahmed Ben Yessef, renowned Sevillian painter, who already exhibited at the previous festival and who this year will make a joint exhibition with Khalid Nieto, of drawings and poetry, entitled “Encounter between the Quill and the Paintbrush’.
The last edition of the Mértola Islamic Festival, in 2015, was awarded and honored by the Regional Tourism Authority of Alentejo / Ribatejo, as the best event in the region in 2015.
Soon we will make public the program and open the inscription to the souk and activities in which the Seville Mosque Foundation participates, for all the Muslims who want to participate.
