On the 6th, 7th and 8th of July, the fifteenth anniversary of the Great Mosque of Granada, which was inaugurated in 2003, took place in Granada.
This event, which has been held for the last 15 years, has become a benchmark for the coexistence of Islam in Europe.
On Friday the 6th, a welcome reception took place, prior to the Jummuah, and in the afternoon the characteristic ‘mosque party’ took place in the gardens of the mosque.
A reception open to the Muslim and non-Muslim public and attended by both neighbors and fellow citizens and people who travel from various places especially for it.
The following days, Saturday 7 and Sunday 8, there were several conferences, around the importance of the Mosque, as well as a night of dhikra.
The first day of lectures was given by Hajj Isa Bryce, one of the first English converts, and Ustadh Abdel Gani Melara, translator of the Qur’an into Spanish, as well as many other books, and Imam Khatib of the Seville Mosque Foundation.
Hajj Isa Bryce spoke about the need to go to mosques and the benefit that this entails, both in this life and in the next, and about the responsibility towards them and the necessary behavior in them.
Ustad Abdel Gani Melara made a tafsir of the Qur’anic verse that reads: “Verily, in the Messenger you have a beautiful example for one who has hope in Allah and in the Last Day and remembers Allah very much” (33:21).
He reminded us, through this, of the different relationships of the human being with the Creator and creation.
The night of Dhikra that took place on Saturday was a time of gathering, remembering and praising the Creator and reflecting on the importance of Zakat.
The meeting concluded the following day, Sunday 8, with a lecture by Khadija Martinez, on the importance of awqaf for the maintenance of mosques and on the human being necessary to establish them, and with a lecture by Luqman Nieto, vice-president of the Mosque Foundation of Seville, who spoke about the importance of the mosque as a direction of society and as a place where human beings go to confirm the reality of the mosque. existence with other human beings.
