This Saturday, March 9th, a seminar dedicated to Zakat will be held at the Seville Mosque Foundation.
The seminar will be given by Imam khatib Ustad Abdel Gani Melara.
It will start at 10:30 and will last until the duhur prayer with a coffee break in the middle.
Zakat is one of the five pillars of Islam and may be one of the least paid attention to, but it is as important as praying the prayer or fasting the month of Ramadan.
Zakat, like prayer and fasting, has conditions of when and how it has to be paid, when it becomes obligatory, what it has to be paid on, who collects it and to whom it is received, etc.
Knowledge of the basics of Zakat is obligatory for every Muslim, he has to know when it becomes obligatory and on what, and, at the time of paying it, since the fiqh (jurisprudence) of Zakat in detail can be complex, he should consult people who are knowledgeable in this matter.
This seminar is an excellent opportunity to learn the basics about the nature of Zakat that is obligatory for every Muslim to know from Ustad Abdel Gani, who has extensive knowledge on the subject.
It is also a good opportunity to discuss other topics such as the nature of money and usury according to Islam.
Some of the topics that will be discussed in the seminar are as follows: – The aleya of usury – The consideration of wealth and money – Zakat, what is it?
– Jurisprudence(fiqh) of Zakat: When and how it is paid and who receives it.
