By the grace and generosity of Allah, we are honored and overwhelmed by the responsibility and trust that is being bestowed upon us to distribute an increasing amount of zakat year after year.
The ‘Zakat Seville‘ initiative started in 2019 with the intention of establishing the third pillar of Islam, is now in its fourth year and has again increased its distribution capacity exponentially by 2022, alhamdulillah.
Being on the front line of its distribution to the needy, the poor and the most vulnerable, we are privileged witnesses to the direct and indisputable blessing it has had on hundreds of lives over the past year.
With the aim of pleasing Allah through the establishment of the Zakat pillar, we are witnessing the greatness, baraka and social justice that this pillar of Islam entails through its active implementation.
This initiative, which arose with the intention of establishing a platform to facilitate that those who have to receive Zakat know where and how they can do it, and those who have to pay it know how and how much, in a transparent and responsible way among the Muslims of Seville, is bearing its fruits and benefits beyond what we could have imagined when it started.
The following is the annual report for the year 2022. And we ask Allah to facilitate us to continue and expand this noble task. May Allah accept it from those who give it and bless them for it. May it be a benefit to those who receive it. And may it increase us in taqwa and discernment at the time of its distribution. Amin.
The Zakat collected is distributed in its entirety in the categories specified in the Qur’an. The Seville Mosque Foundation does not use or distribute for its own purposes, expenses or projects anything destined to Zakat.
This report is done on a calendar year basis for the sake of accountability and transparency. Zakat is collected and distributed on a daily basis. All Zakat collected is distributed within the same calendar year. The balance in the account shows provision for the coming months. The demand for Zakat is constant and predictable, the collection can be more variable and uneven.
The bank charges for the specific Zakat account amounted to €344.04, which were paid by the Seville Mosque Foundation.
