The nisab, or minimum amount, is the equivalent of 85 grams of gold (20 gold dinars) or 595 grams of silver (200 silver dirhams) in the local currency (this would be equivalent to €7,395 in gold and €595 in silver, as of 04/02/2025). This minimum wealth must have been held for one year.
According to the consensus, the nisab will be calculated in gold, therefore the minimum amount to be valued in the local currency is stipulated at €7,395.
This amount may vary minimally and should be calculated for further correction at the time when it is believed that the nisab has been exceeded. To calculate the nisab of zakat it would be enough to multiply the price of gold (22k) by the 85g of the weight of 20 dinars.
If you have possession of gold or silver, you must pay half a dinar (2,125g of gold) for every 20 dinars and 5 dirhams (14,875g of silver) for every 200 dirhams, or its equivalent in grams.
