Diplomacy, by its very transitory nature, brings people closer to our lives and then pushes them away as their limited mandates end. This environment usually generates a strictly professional veneer that rarely allows for the flourishing of a deep friendship. However, in the case of Her Excellency Ambassador Claudia Boesch, that usual diplomatic distance was completely illusory from our first meeting, giving way to a relationship of extraordinary closeness and trust.
On several occasions throughout his term of office, we have had the honour of noting that profound affinity; in a very special way during a memorable dinner in Mértola, where all those present at the table could feel the warmth of that shared bond.
Now, after her official appointment as ambassador, she leaves Seville having sown in our city her professional excellence and an enormous freshness in human and diplomatic relations. On June 10, on the occasion of Portugal’s National Day, we had the honor of once again conveying our most sincere affection to him, as well as our best wishes for success in his new destination in Northern Europe.
