At the Mosque Foundation of Seville, we firmly believe that the encounter between cultures and generations is the seed of a shared future. For this reason, it has been a real pleasure to receive this week a group of 18 students and university staff from the Department of Islamic Studies of the Friedrich-Alexander University of Erlangen-Nuremberg (Germany).
The visit, led by Professor Abbas Poya, is part of an academic excursion through Andalusia, and for us it has been an honour to open the doors of our mosque to them. The students, specialised in Islamic Studies and Islamic Education, were able to learn first-hand about the history and day-to-day life of our community and projects.
During the meeting, we had a very entertaining and constructive conversation about the role of the new generations of Muslims in their countries of origin. We addressed the difficulties and, above all, the enormous opportunities that lie ahead to build a better future for all. It was inspiring to hear their concerns and their vision of a more just and inclusive society.
As a sign of gratitude and brotherhood, our visitors presented us with a book, Professor Abbas Poya, and typical sweets from Germany, a gift that we received with great affection. For our part, we wanted to reciprocate their generosity by giving them an institutional panel with the calligraphy of the Door of Forgiveness, a symbol of our history and the hospitality that characterizes Seville.
We are deeply grateful to Professor Poya and all the students for their visit, their interest and their energy. We are sure that these young people are the present of a solid and hopeful future.
