On June 9, 2004, the Seville City Council gave the Islamic Community a 6,000 square meter plot of land considered to be of Public and Social Interest in Los Bermejales. Neighborhood opposition, legal impediments and the comings and goings of the local government at the time frustrated the project. That one and that of the Cartuja, San Jerónimo … Now, about ten years after that date, the community reactivates the project and, after an internal renovation in its organization, hopes to generate good news after the summer. For now, they are still looking for their land, now private, to build a temple with a capacity for around 400 people, but that will serve the entire Islamic community in the city: around 10,000 Muslims.
