On March 20th of 2019, a delegation from Seville Mosque Foundation, made up of Ibrahim Hernández, president, Luqman Nieto, vice president, Muhsin Sierra, director of public relations and Bashir Castiñeira, ambassador of the foundation in Malaysia, had the honor of being received by the Prime Minister of Malaysia, Tun Dr. Mahathir.
This is the fifth time a delegation from the Seville Mosque Foundation has been received by Tun Dr. Mahathir, and the first that he does so as Prime Minister. The meeting was in the prime minister’s office. They talked about the Foundation’s project to build a mosque and Islamic cultural center in Seville and about the possible ways to help make this project a reality. Tun Dr. Mahathir has shown great interest in having this project completed soon.
During the visit, he was extended an official invitation to come to Seville that was accepted and was in the process with Moncloa to be done in 2020 but the Covid pandemic frustrated what would have been the first official visit of the head of state of Malaysia to Spain in 20 years.
