The President of the Islamic Community in Spain, Miguel Ángel Ruiz requested, in December 2003, the grant of land for the construction of a Mosque to the Seville City Council.
After the construction of the Granada Mosque in the albayzín neighborhood, inaugurated in July 2003, in front of the Alhambra palace and by virtue of the great success in reception and meeting place of cultures that this project entailed, the steps for the construction of a center with similar characteristics in the Andalusian capital.
The means for carrying out the project were at that time the commitment made publicly on July 10, 2003 during the inauguration of the Granada Mosque of the Head of State of the Arab Emirate of Sharjah, Shaykh Sultan Al Qassimi.
