In September 2018, Ibrahim Hernández and Luqman Nieto, President and Vice President of the Seville Mosque Foundation met with Oumar Kanoute and Amin A. Rahman, at the headquarters of their foundation in London.

It was a real pleasure to meet him again and to see in person the waqf that he has established in London in order to support the ‘City of Light’ in Mali, dedicated to the residence, maintenance and education of orphaned children.

At the meeting, they talked about the possibilities of strengthening the relationships of the two entities and began to work on the idea of ​​a campaign to raise funds for the project of the Islamic Cultural Center of Seville.

During the visit to London, we had the great honor and privilege of taking a tour of the “East London Mosque”. We toured the entire building and facilities, and learned about its history, activities, financing, etc. It was encouraging to learn from their struggles, constant growth, social commitment, self-support, and community service.

As a result of this meeting, in February 2019 we received Oumar Kanouté in Seville where we signed a collaboration agreement and spent the day together filming the # Kanoute4SevilleMosque campaign, with the backdrop of six of the most representative places of the beautiful city of Seville.
