Visit to the East London Mosque

During the visit to London of the delegation of the Seville Mosque Foundation, we had the honour and privilege of receiving a tour of the ‘East London Mosque’, one of the most emblematic mosques in the city.
During the arranged visit we were given a detailed report of the history, activities, financing, etc. of the same.
This Mosque, Islamic Cultural Center and Awqaf has been growing exponentially in the last thirty years.
The complex, which includes a mosque, cultural center, schools, library, offices, gymnasium, assembly hall, etc., is largely self-financed by its own income from offices, shops and other Awqaf.
It should also be noted that the financing of the construction and continuous extensions that have been made and continue to be made, have been largely financed by the local community.
The ‘Foundation Archives’, dating back to 1910, were recently opened by the Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan.
